The Primary Care SIG connects APRNs who provide primary and ambulatory care to older adults, offering a forum for collaboration, mentorship, and professional growth. Members share evidence-based practices, clinical innovations, and resources to improve geriatric care across diverse settings, including community clinics, private practices, and academic environments.

Goals:

  • Support APRNs in delivering high-quality primary care to older adults.
  • Position GAPNA as a leading resource for excellence in geriatric primary and ambulatory care.
  • Foster leadership, mentorship, and professional development.

Objectives:

  • Share geriatric-focused guidelines and preventive care resources.
  • Promote best practices in chronic disease management, polypharmacy, dementia care, falls prevention, transitional care, and the 5Ms framework.
  • Provide targeted educational opportunities, including conference sessions, "Day in the Life" presentations, and CE packages with flexible "On-Demand" options.
  • Strengthen member engagement through collaboration, resource sharing, and outreach.
  • Educate on Medicare billing and coding relevant to primary care.
